I am looking at this horse because the mare is the mother to my gelding. She is currently a broodmare. Is there any hope for this mare. Thank You
Is there any cure for side bone in horses? Can you ride the horse? Are there any special shoe jobs you can do?
just to let you know sidebone isn%26#039;t the same as ring bone contrary to your first answer. this condition is defined as the laying down of calcium (ossification) in the cartilage wings of the pedal bone. this is caused by increased concussive forces on the back of the pedal bone which will predispose to sidebone formation and is a result of poor or delayed shoeing andlong periods of work on hard surfaces.
I would get the vet out there to look at the horse. if sidebone is the causing lameness grooving the hoof will allow the foot to expand and relieve pain if the sides of the hoof are putting pressure on the ossification. otherwise rest and treatment with NSAIDs is probably the best course of action. the key to not developing lameness in these horses is to keep them trimmed and keep lots of room for heel expansion.
I would get the vet to x-ray the horse so you can see if it really is side bone and if so how much ossification there is. If the horse is in no apparent pain then I wouldn%26#039;t see any reason not to ride her but make sure to get the vet to look at her before you buy her just to make sure you are buying a healthy and sound horse.
good luck!
Reply:It depends how close the ringbone is to the joint, how advanced and if it%26#039;s high or low ringbone. You can still ride them but there isn%26#039;t a cure, just management. I would advise that you get a good vet to evaluate her first and take some plates to see what is going on in there. A good farrier can help her and balance the foot and use corrective shoes to relieve pressure but apart from that and using bute, the only other thing that you can have done is arthrodesis which is when they fuse the two pastern bones which makes the joint more stable. If the ringbone is not near or on the actual joint, that%26#039;s far better but horses with ringbone are prone to arthritis in the joint. I wouldn%26#039;t automatically exclude her as a purchase but I would want to see x rays of those joints first and then discuss it with your vet. Some horses are quite ridable and don%26#039;t go lame but it all depends on extent and location.
The coffin or pedal bone area is affected by both ringbone and sidebone, sidebone involving cartiledge and ringbone, the actual bones and joints from the coffin bone to the pasterns. Both are partly caused by concussion among other factors including upright confirmation and boxy feet. Sidebone rarely caused lameness issues that can be pinned to that one reason where as ringbone can. The advice remains the same, x ray the feet and discuss with yout vet and have them evaluate the level of soundness.

I got married on 29th feb 2000 so technically its my 2nd anniversary tomorrow? what special shod i do for her?

I got married on 29th feb 2000 so technically its my 2nd anniversary tomorrow? what special shod i do for her?
First, congratulations.....
Second, so sweet that you asked this
Third, card and flowers (nothing too crazy) is always a must
champagne and the flutes you used at your wedding chilled, a new nightgown
Reply:you were married on leap year?! wow. I say go on a date and relive your courtship or something.
Reply:treat her the same as the previous two yrs.
i have to leave the something special part up to you.

Men's casual shoes?
OK, trying to decide on a new pair of casual shoes. Here are the choices:
Tretorn:

Sketchers:

http://shop.skechers.com/shop/men/shoes/...
thanks
Men%26#039;s casual shoes?
They%26#039;re all very nice shoes, but I like the 2 Skechers the best. However, if you decide to buy the one from Nordstoms, go to www.ebates.com first. Sign up with ebates, after you have done that put Nordstom in the search box when it brings up the Nordstom link, click on that and then do your buying. This way you%26#039;ll get a percentage back of your sale through ebates. They send out checks quarterly. I%26#039;ve gotten almost $500 total from them because of my purchases through them for Nordstom, HP, Dell, QVC, 1800FLOWERS.COM, Staples and tons more.
You might as well earn some money while you%26#039;re shopping! Skecher%26#039;s might be on there as well but I%26#039;ve never looked for them. I know that Converse is on there.
Good luck and happy shopping!
Reply:The black and brown Bravados.
Reply:I liked the second choice better.
Reply:Go with the second pair of skechers...they will match more pieces of clothing!
Reply:so where is the question?
Reply:my personal fav is crisp white nikes...but out of the choices you gave, I like the black skechers.
Reply:Go for Sketchers .. looks good
Reply:I vote for the Tretorn.
Reply:Well, it really depends on the style you%26#039;re going for. If you want more of a, say, goth look, the Tretorns are definately for you. If you%26#039;re more into a preppie look, then either of the Sketchers would do well. My personal favorite is the first Sketcher.
Reply:none of them are casual
they are sneakers
if you want casual ones
dont get any of those
get them from a different place or just pick different ones bc those arent casual at all
sorry dudeeeeee
Reply:The Skecher Klone%26#039;s in brown/black are probably the best out of that bunch. Didn%26#039;t like the first one%26#039;s at all.
Reply:go with the sketchers.
Reply:I like the Tretorns, they are more unique but will still go with lots of stuff. They look more upscale, and not so much like what everyone else wears. Oh yea, either color looks good. Best Wishes :)

Do football kickers have to wear a special shoe for kicking?
i am going to become a kicker next year
Do football kickers have to wear a special shoe for kicking?
A lot (darn near all) kickers wear soccer cleats b/c soccer cleats have no spike in the front of the foot, allowing them to get a smoother kick off the ground (i.e. the spike on regular football cleats would get caught on the ground thereby disrupting the kicking motion)
Reply:Nope, There are quite a few professionals that wear NO SHOE at all!
Reply:Some kickers prefer shoes with more pointed toes while others prefer a toe that is more square. Another consideration might be the tackiness. Some people do better with a slicker shoe while others like one that is a little %26quot;tackier%26quot;. Other kickers want to feel the ball as they kick and don%26#039;t want a shoe to interfere, so they go barefoot.
They do make shoes designed especially for kicking but you just want to try and find the shoe which gives you the best results with regard to both distance and accuracy. For you, that may or may not be a kicking shoe. In fact, it may mean no shoe at all.
Here%26#039;s 2 sites with shoes designed specifically for kicking. I%26#039;m sure there are others.
http://www.prokicker.com/catalog/product...
http://www.wizardkicking.com/kicking-sho...
Reply:Some Kickers where soccer cleats, and NO! There are NOT quite a few of kickers that go shoeless. The last kicker to not wear a shoe was in 1981, with the exception of a one game revival by a Tampa bay kicker during the 04 season.
Reply:I know alot of kickers just wear scoccer cleats. There is a special shoe for kickers that don%26#039;t kick soccer style. It is flat in the front and has a harder toe.

Is there any specials shoes for a burn victim?
Usually they put on a sleeve or sock that looks like panty hose. If they have a burn serious enough to need special care they should have gone to the hospital.

I have fllat feet and need some comfortable shoes as I%26#039;m on my feet all day long...any suggestions?
It%26#039;s possible that the orthotics could need to have some adjustments made in order to fit better.
For shoes, one kind that I really like is Crocs. They have a kind that are prescription design to help those with certain foot problems. To find out more about them please check out: http://www.CrocsRX.com
As for the ortotics, I would recommend checking with your podiatrist or other prescriber to see about having them readjusted to see if that helps some of the pain.

Try a podiatrist to check out the feet. I tried orthotics and foudn the pain to be too much. So I have made do with widewidth shzoes. Others do benefit from special shoes.

Should All Medical Staff be made to wear unforms/shoes only within the hospital to reduce risk of infection?
I recently spent some time in an Italian Hospital and in a UK National Health and a private hospital. I noticed in Italy that the cleaning was far superior to the UK, but also that all doctors and nurses only wore hospital issue uniforms - tunics and trouses and special shoes inside the hospital at all times. The nurses never wore them outside nor did the doctors visit in their suits and outdoor shoes. Should not such steps be taken here in the UK?
Should All Medical Staff be made to wear unforms/shoes only within the hospital to reduce risk of infection?
I think this is a brilliant (great) Idea for all Medical Staff including those in the U.S.

Looking for Special Shoe Ankle Straps?
I hope someone knows the product I am looking for, I saw it in a magazine (maybe InStyle or Bazaar) They are straps that wrap between the heel of the shoe and the arch and go around your ankle so slides and other similar shoes do not come .

Are there such a thing as shoes for spinning?
My daughter asked for spinning shoes that she would use during spinning class. I%26#039;ve check all local sports stores and none had them or heard of them. Are there special shoes for spinning and where would I find them?
Are there such a thing as shoes for spinning?
What your daughter wants are cycling shoes. These are shoes with a hard sole to make cycling more efficient. They also have the capability to attach a small metal cleat on the sole to %26quot;clip%26quot; into the pedal, but that isn%26#039;t required. You can find cycling shoes in any bike-specific shop, or from any on-line bike store (pricepoint.com, performancebike.com, nashbar.com, etc.). Have your daughter to ask the other people in her spinning class where they got theirs. Cycling shoes often fit slightly different than regular shoes, so make sure that you get them at a place with a good return policy, or take your daughter with you to try them on.
Reply:Yes, some of the major mfgs make shoes just for spinning but they are really just biking shoes with more or less style, depending on how you look at it. I think a lower end mountain biking shoe seems to work the best. It seems most spinning bikes I%26#039;ve been on have SPD cleats which will work on mountain biking shoes.
Reply:no answer. i%26#039;m just visiting your question to snag 2 points.
Reply:I think Nike and Adidas have %26quot;spin-specific%26quot; shoes.
But really, they are just regular cleated cycling shoes that are reasonably comfortable to walk in.
One instructor I know wears the Lake SPD sandals:
http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Shoes/produc...
And I wear these knock-offs in the summer:
http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?categ...
Or you could get shoes like these that work equally well on the road or in the gym:
http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?categ...
Reply:Yes indeed, they are out there. That is a bike shop item. The local bike shop in my area seems to be selling them left and right. The shop owner is very knowledgeable about spinning which is a big help. Many of the general sports stores are not very good when it comes to cycling.
Reply:Most spinning bikes have SPD pedals on them. Your daughter is asking for a low to mid cost shoe that is outfitted with SPD clips.
Reply:Cycling shoes will work for spin classes (without cleats of course), but not always necessary. You could look at Vans skateboarding shoes which are cheaper and have the stiff sole you are looking for...

Anyone know about non slip shoes?
I just got a call today that said congrats your now an employee at jamba juice.
and i was told that i needed to have non slip shoes.
does this mean any nonslip shoes (like adidias, kswiss)
or do i have to go out and buy special shoes..?
sorry if this is a really dumb question, i have no clue.
Anyone know about non slip shoes?
Not all slip resistant shoes are created equal. Depending upon the enviorment you will be working in (and am not sure about jamba juice) but am willing to be you will just be working with wet floors, but in most restaurants you may also be dealing with grease and or oil on the floor as well. My best recommendtion is go to website called www.shoesforcrews.com . most major restaurant chains require employee%26#039;s to buy their kitchen shoe from this vendor, as they dooffer the best non-slip shoe on the market, they come in a variety of styles, colors, and sizes. Prices range from between $24 - $90
Reply:As long as when you%26#039;re walking on slippery floors, you have a lot of traction, they%26#039;re fine. I bought some at Wal-Mart for around $25. They were made for non-slip use (it%26#039;ll say on the box)and helped a lot. No, they don;t have to be special shoes but some shoes (like skater) shoes are not good non-slip ones.
Reply:Not a dumb question at all. My sister has always managed restaurants and has to have black non-slip shoes - they never let her wear tennis shoes, but they may let you wear them there. She gets the non-stick ones at Wal-mart or K-mart, I can%26#039;t remember which - but they are cheap - not attractive, but cheap:)
I would just wear the ones I had tomorrow and they will tell you if they are allowed or not.

En pointe without the shoes?
When dancing en pointe, you must wear special shoes and be very strong- but is there anything that could happen if you don%26#039;t wear those special shoes?
En pointe without the shoes?
You can break your toes, strain muscle tear or rip tendons ligaments and muscles. You have to have the shoes to do point. you learn the basics in pre point but you are never alowed to try an stand on your toes with out shoes. and you never put the shoes on until you are ready and know what damage you can do. Point is very hard on your feet. Toes bleed an crack, takes alot of preperation and training. Takes alot of conditioning and alot of people cant handle the strain that it puts on the body.
Reply:ouch.... I would not try it. You need the ribbons to support your ankles and you need the wood to really get up onto your toes. Plus you%26#039;d probably fall over or break a toe.
Reply:you could seriously **** up your toes and feet.. If you are a professional ballerina then you%26#039;d know that your toes get blisters on them and they bleed all the time... You have to wear those special shoes..
Sometimes it depends on what kinda dance you do.. Some ballerina%26#039;s don%26#039;t wear those shoes.. Just don%26#039;t get on your tipy toes...
Reply:well, i%26#039;m guessing it%26#039;s going to HURT. En pointe means on your toes? Can you really dance on your tip toes in regular slippers or shoes or barefeet?
Reply:Well, I guess you could go on pointe, but it would hurt ALOT, trust me. If if kinda hurts already with the pointe shoes, it will hurt alot alot alot more without. Hope this helps!
Reply:you can damaged your feet, knees, hips, back, sholders, etc. it can be very dangerous to go en pointe without proper training, let alone without proper SHOES.
dont.
its a bad plan.
Reply:I could stand (balance) on pointe in retire bare-footed when I danced. Most dancers can do this. Standing en pointe on both feet in any position was a breeze. The shoe helps, but the foot does the work.
I think it has a lot to do with the natural shape of my feet and that my toe length was suited for dancing on pointe. Otherwise, I was just very strong.
FYI, it%26#039;s NOT very good for your feet. It%26#039;s just a party gag!
Reply:OH MY LORD Don%26#039;t even try it! You%26#039;ll blow out your ankles, and completely stretch the metatarsals beyond the normal range of motion.
Its actually physically impossible for an adult to sustain actual pointe position without pointe shoes, though for some reason kids are really good at it. You would have to walk knuckled over.
Just as an FYI- There is no wood in pointe shoes, but I totally see the point (no pun intended) you were going for!
Reply:First of all, its almost impossible to dance without pointe shoes because there is no support for your feet. You would not be able to stay up on pointe.
Second, it would be extremely painful if you are not trained to dance without pointe shoes and padding. It would most likely damage your feet, maybe even permanently.
Reply:You can%26#039;t go on pointe... you have to have them to get on pointe.

What shoes would/did you wear to prom?
Prom is coming up (June 20-something) and I need to know what types of shoes there are out there. I%26#039;m very used to wearing running shoes and I don%26#039;t have any fancy shoes at home. Also, I was wondering if there are any special shoes that would fit around bunions, but still would look very nice. Thanks in advance! Ok.
What shoes would/did you wear to prom?
I think the %26quot;thong%26quot; type (like flip-flop) shoes would be great if you have odd shaped feet, and it won%26#039;t hurt your bunion. Please don%26#039;t get extremely high heels, no one in their right state of mind would stand on high heels the whole night. Get something like kitten heel or something, it%26#039;s cute and dressy, but comfortable too. The color is completely up to you. Good luck.
Reply:im in the classic side.
like urban outfitters etc.
well... i wore is.. (your probably gonna laugh)
i wore blue high top converses which looked actually nice with my blue dress and black and white tights. haha

I'll be 30 soon. My DH bought me a pair of shoes no card. Am I silly or does 30 warrant something special?
Ok, #1. I am VERY PICKY about the sneakers I buy, #2. I was hoping he would quit buying me stuff that he wants, #3. Being married for over 3 years and having a child together should mean that he thinks more of me than buying me a pair of shoes and giving them to me 4 days early with no card, right?
I%26#039;ll be 30 soon. My DH bought me a pair of shoes no card. Am I silly or does 30 warrant something special?
Most men are very practical and can%26#039;t think in romantic terms. In this case, communication and dropping hints is the key. Something like: %26quot;Darling, I really like that cute little purse. This could make a nice present, especially given during dinner in that new restaurant we%26#039;ve been at last week%26quot; - and give that special LOOK.
It take years to train your man to recognize SIGNS. All my girlfriends complain of the same thing, so you are not alone. Happy birthday, and hugs to you!
Reply:Geez. You are 30. What do you want? A diamond necklace? I think it%26#039;s the thought, not the price tag. At your age I would think you would know that.
Reply:Every person%26#039;s persived notion of presents, are not the same.
The same applies to how they are wrapped - or not wrapped .. or with or without a card. Also - some people just are not appropriate present buyers .. they often buy a gift - and just the process of a gift is an idea which may come from the heart.
The gift itself does not represent what the person thinks .. nor may not represent what value the person puts on a person.
Lots of people buy gifts for other person according to gifts they want themselves.
What does DH mean?
Think this way ... do you thing that your DH (?) knows what that something special would be - that you think age 30 is warranted for? DH ? may be clueless to your way of thinking.
Personally - I try to give what someone would want .. I try to wrap it nicely - and give an appropriate card ... and at the right time ..... however I have experienced many people who do not do none of the appropriate things and they think it is ok to do things like this.
This is the difference in people. Different opinions is the variety in life.
Maybe you should have told him your thoughts of turning 30.

Nephew%26#039;s birthday on Monday and these are on the top of his list- well after the Wii- bit I got that!
What is so special about Air Jordan B%26#039;2rue basketball shoes? Do they all have the special logo on the bottom?
there%26#039;s really nothing special about them
Reply:If a famous company with a good reputition make a product, usually everyone goes mad about it and starts buying it, EVEN if it was something normal (nothing special about it).
And don%26#039;t forget that if you wear something well known for its good quility and is expensive, it grabs the attention.
Some Air Jordan have good features though...
;)
Reply:besides the fact that they are basketball shoes and have the air jordan logo, nothing much, most kids want them because of the price, they want to go to school and brag about the fact that they got a pair of a hundred dollar shoes, there is nothing out of the ordinary about the logo on the bottom, its just a regular logo that looks kinda cool

Where did you buy your most expensive pair of shoes? Were they for a special occasion or were they just nice?
Hitchcock Wide shoes for men. I order my shoes from a Catalog company based in Massachusets. The only place that will have a width as big as 6-E wide. Hard to believe people have a foot that wide But we do.

Do you save your best clothes/shoes/perfume/etc for a special worthy day and not wear them on ordinary days?
Whatever i buy, i%26#039;ll wear them all. My good clothers, shoes, undies, perfumes, jewels etc. And i always have at least a light make up on even at home at all times. Who knows if someone should drop by unexpectely.
Do you save your best clothes/shoes/perfume/etc for a special worthy day and not wear them on ordinary days?
Clothes - no.
Shoes - sometimes, I mean I don%26#039;t want to wear my best dressy flats if I%26#039;m going to the park after it rained you know?
Perfume - I have like 5 so I have one for like everyday for school, I have one for like night time, and like 2 that I only wear for special occassions. I just don%26#039;t want to waste 100+ bottle that smells amazing, on something everday like school.
Reply:depends, usually not i wear them anytime[=
Reply:Like I used to that, and then I have to end up moving those clothes (for a worthy) day to my normal days.. because it gets silly that in all my pictures and all those people I%26#039;m wearing like only those two or three special outfits.
So simply, everything special stays special till it is not special anymore ;)

Do I need a special license to sale Jordan shoes or NFL or other pro sports merchandise legally?
I have a web-site and a retail sales license (State of S.C.). The NFL merchindice is licensed by The NFL.
Do I need a special license to sale Jordan shoes or NFL or other pro sports merchandise legally?
you should be okay unless they require a brick and mortar storefront - you just have to contact the manufacturers and find out who and how to order from - every clothing store in the world sells licensed pro sports gear - you have to offer something unique to get them to buy over the internet vs. in person
Reply:you should have a wholesellers license .. if you want to make any profit...are you buying retail????

As long as the merchandise is licensed and not pirated merchandise (knockoffs) and you have your retail sales license, you don%26#039;t need any other licenses. If you sell on sidewalks you probably need a city permit but nothing from the NFL if that%26#039;s what you%26#039;re asking.

How can I teach my special needs child to tie his shoes?
Hi
My 9 year old son is so ashamed that he can not tie his shoes like his friends, it breaks my heart! He was born with 3 webbed shorter that we had sperated but because the length can not be corrected he can not tie his shoes. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.
How can I teach my special needs child to tie his shoes?
1) Bunny Ears
Probably the most common method for teaching kids to tie their own shoes is the %26quot;Bunny Ears%26quot; method.
Tell the child that he needs to make his shoe laces into %26quot;bunny ears.%26quot;First, he needs to secure a knot for the bunny%26#039;s head. Take the laces and cross them over to make an %26quot;X%26quot;. Then, pull one ear through the bottom of the %26quot;X%26quot; and pull tight.
Say, %26quot;Now we need to give bunny some ears.%26quot; Loop the laces into %26quot;bunny ears%26quot;.
Tell the child that now we need to %26quot;make the bunny ears tight so they don%26#039;t fall off%26quot;. Then make another %26quot;X%26quot; using the %26quot;bunny ears%26quot;, slide one %26quot;ear%26quot; under the %26quot;X%26quot; and pull tightly.
2) Bi-Colored Laces
This is a great tip that can really make learning to tie much easier. Take two laces in two different colors and cut them down the middle. Then sew them together to make two bi-colored laces. Lace a pair of old shoes with these funny shoes strings. Using bi-colored laces can really help a kid who has trouble remembering his right from his left. You can use any learning-to-tie method in combination with your bi-colored laces.
3) Cardboard Cut-Out Shoe
Take a cardboard box and cut out an over-sized shoe shape. Have your kid decorate the shoe in any way he wishes. Using a pen, poke holes for laces. Use the bi-colored lace tip above, but instead of cutting the original laces in two, use two entire laces sewn together to create one long, bi-colored shoe string. Lace the shoe and use any teaching method, using this cut-out. Some kids find it easier and more interesting to practice on an over-sized model.
4) The Squirrel and the Tree
This is a fun method that utilizes a kid friendly story and movements that help kids understand and remember the basic steps to shoe tying.
Tell the child to create %26quot;tree roots%26quot; by making a starter knot.
Make a tree with a long thin loop; hold the loop in the child%26#039;s right hand.
With his left hand, take hold of the lace and tell him that a squirrel runs around the tree and jumps into the hole under the tree and comes out the other side (he%26#039;ll need to switch hands at this point which can be difficult for some kids).
Many parents prefer this trick because it teaches the kid to tie shoes with the single loop method.
5) Loop It and Swoop It
This is a less childish, but still memorable way of teaching a child to tie in the traditional single loop method. Teach your child to tie his shoes using the standard tying method, but as you go through the motions say, %26quot;loop it, swoop it, pull.%26quot; Do this over and over while repeating the same three, simple instructions until your child is able to tie his shoes on his own. Encourage him to say %26quot;loop it, swoop it, pull%26quot; each time he attempts tying his shoes until it becomes second nature.
6) Learning to Tie Toys and Books
If you want to make learning to tie more fun, consider getting your child a toy or book that will help him learn to tie on his own. This is especially helpful for kids who learn best through interaction with toys. Some suggestions:
Franklin Dress-Up Doll
Melissa %26amp; Doug Wood Lacing Sneaker

Reply:Use a backward chaining method...
This is the best method for shoe tying. Backward chaining is a behavioral procedure which goes like this. In general, the last step is done first and the student works backwards in the chain once he masters each step.
1. Pull bows tightly together to tie shoe
2. Make 2nd bow
3. Make 1st bow
4. Pull laces tight
5. Cross laces over
6. Hold each lace in each hand.
Basically, you would have student do the last step first (1 above). You do everything else and when you get to the last step, have him pull bows tightly together to tie shoe. Do this until he has mastered this step. Then require him to do step 2 AND 1(above). He would have to make the second bow and pull both bows tight. Once he masters step 2 and 1, have him complete steps 3,2,and 1. Do this until he is required to complete all steps independently.
You can even reinforce him after each step he completes successfully. For example,
Student completes step 1 (above) - provide reinforcer.
Student completes step 2 and 1 - provide reinforcer.
etc.
You should only move to the next step when the prior steps have been mastered. AND, he should always be required to complete the subsequent mastered step in the chain.
When he masters step 1- he then needs to complete steps 2 and 1 until mastery criteria is reached. Then, he needs to complete steps 3-2-1 until those steps have reached mastery criteria. and so on...
This method works well because the student reaches is reinforced with completing the task every time. He can complete the task independently, but then you just work on getting him there...
Reply:Practicing is all you can do. In the meantime, maybe he would prefer to wear shoes with velcro - that way he%26#039;ll never be stuck having to ask for help if his shoes came untied.
Reply:If you havent yet I woul ask for soem help from the school with an OT. Are there any other self help skills that has issues with such as buttons, snaps, lacing, zipping?
Reply:Tell him about the %26quot;bunny%26quot; and how it goes in the hole. Make it look fun!

Swelling feet. What can I do? Cannot wear most shoes. Am wearing special support hose, helping very little.?
This could be congestive heart failure. It could be a sign of trouble with the valves in the veins in your legs.
Your doctor will almost certainly put you on a diuretic (a medicine that will make you urinate), and may require you to take potassium pills with it, depending on which diuretic he chooses.
Until then, you can reduce the swelling with caffeine (which is a diuretic) and by keeping your feet elevated above your heart as much as possible. Doing hundreds of reps of extending and flexing your foot at the ankle will help too. So will walking.
Don%26#039;t mess around with this. You can die...or worse...from this.
Swelling feet. What can I do? Cannot wear most shoes. Am wearing special support hose, helping very little.?
You need to see your doc to find out why you are retaining fluid and get treated for it. See your doc ASAP and get this checked out as something is definately wrong.
Reply:Time to see your Doc as this could be a sign of renal (kidney) troubles. (Sooner rather than later).
Reply:Hello. Keep your feet elevated as much as possible. I was told to drink more water, as well. Also don%26#039;t wear tight clothing If at all possible, go to a doctor. If you can%26#039;t go to a doctor, go to the hospital emergency room. If not taken care of, eventually it could hurt your heart. I have had lots of trouble with that also. At the hospital, they actually drained all the extra fluid. It doesn%26#039;t hurt. They may give you a pill which will cause you to get rid of the extra fluid and you will be better in just a few hours. Good luck and I will pray for you. I pray now that God will bless you and guide you to go the right direction to get help for yourself. Sincerely, lyns39@sbcglobal.net
Reply:Stop trying to get an internet diagnosis and go see a doctor! Don%26#039;t listen to these people. It could be any number of things!
Reply:first of all...you should see a DR , get some blood work done and rule anything out...I had swollen feet last May...I did testing, bloodwork, checked for edima, lung x-rays to rule out water in lungs...everything was fine and normal ....until finally my DR mentioned that I had a severe allergy reaction to the medication I was on.....my pharmacy basically switched brands names to a lower generic brand....obvious cheaper to bill insurances....and has casued swelling...I was allergic to the lining of the fillers....that is my situation....I do not know your medical condition...but if your on any pills check to see you pharmacy did not switch brands to a cheaper brand....good luck

Reply:Keep your legs and feet up as much as you can, At night prop them up with pillows. I found the Crocs shoes for the summer work the best for me, that is when my feet seem to swell the most.
Reply:You need to go to your Doctor for advice. This is not normal. Get help soon.
Reply:Could be the side effect of certain medications, like blood pressure pills...some herbs like %26quot;uva ursi%26quot; can be helpful for flashing the excess liquid ...
Could be also heart or kidneys conditions, too....

Reply:go see a doctor..quick..!!!
The check out is needed, of course.

Swelling feet. What can I do? Cannot wear most shoes. Am wearing special support hose, helping very little.?
Ask your doctor if you are retaining fluid, if you are then you need water tablets which will take the fluid down, simple why to test if you%26#039;re retaining fluid is to, push one tip of your finger into the swollen bit of your legs for a couple of seconds, if it stays indented for a couple of seconds then it%26#039;s fluid, also elevate them as much as you can
Swelling feet. What can I do? Cannot wear most shoes. Am wearing special support hose, helping very little.?
What is causing the swelling? Do you stand for long periods of time? Extreme swelling should be checked out by a doctor since it may be caused by poor circulation and could be a sign of a more serious medical problem.
Reply:Try going barefoot as often as possible. Medical studies have been proving lately the ill-effects shoes have on our feet and legs. Nature is usually the simplest and best way to solve problems. Remember K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) A rule I heard many years ago and always proves to be the best way.

Name that handbag........TLC’s Shoes and Handbag special with Stacy Clinton. Did anyone see the show?
Stacy was talking to an African American designer of crocodile or alligator (not sure which one) evening clutches. Does anyone know the name of that designer or bag? It is supposedly the hottest bag in Los Angeles now. The flap unravels so when it is open it looks like an alligators head. This designer made the bag for friends, and that is when her brand took off.
Help I need this bag
♥Thanks♥

How can you wear men's loafers without socks? Is it a special kind of shoe? Does it ruin the shoes?
simply wear them without socks... it doesn%26#039;t have any adverse effects that i%26#039;ve noticed. you may get a blister on your heel if the shoe isn%26#039;t properly fitted, tho.
How can you wear men%26#039;s loafers without socks? Is it a special kind of shoe? Does it ruin the shoes?
any will do, but they start to stink quickly
Reply:Try getting a no show ped (sock) from the store. You can buy them anywhere- Target, Kmart, Walmart. Then it will look like you have no socks on and your feet will be comfty and dry. Your shoe will last longer if you wear socks- the leather gets wet from sweat and beings to smell and stretch out.
Reply:The loafers must be leather, or they won%26#039;t breathe, not to mention that you shouldn%26#039;t be wearing them anyway. Dry your feet well, especially between your toes. Apply a foot powder or foot spray *very lightly* if your feet do sweat. Alternate pairs of shoes. You should switch between three pairs for optimal wearing and airing. Use a cedar shoe tree while the shoes are drying, then remove the tree.
Reply:i don%26#039;t know....maybe with like insoles or something...everytime I wear shoes without socks, my feet stink!

Do you think its weird to have a special pair of shoes especially for the beach and pools?
I have a pair of Vans slip ons of which the color I hate and just got because they were $16 on sale. They ARE REAL! I have to admit, I have like 30-40 pairs of sneakers and 4 of them are Vans, but why would I want to look like a sensitive little queer wearing sandals? I dont wear the hideous beach Vans with socks, but is it that weird? All people that arent women that wear flip flops look like sensitive little queers who have insecurities.

Judge much?? Insecure?? Footwear fetish much??
Flip flops are fine for the beach / pool. They can get wet and keep your feet cool.
If you want to wear your Vans - go ahead. But NOBODY is impressed - NOBODY cares.
They%26#039;re just shoes - something to cover your feet. Be grateful that your parents buy them for you and get over yourself!!
Reply:That%26#039;s just mean. And sexist. I mean, I don%26#039;t wear flip flops either, but you shouldn%26#039;t judge someone by what shoes their wearing. Geez.

Will the Television special The Christmas Shoes be retelevised?
I didn%26#039;t see any listings in the next 14 days for The Christmas Shoes or its sequel The Christmas Blessing. Sorry.
The Christmas Shoes is available on DVD though - you should buy it (or ask for it for Christmas!) so that you can see it whenever you want and not have to rely on a network retelevising it.

Are there special lightweight running shoes that people wear when running in Cross Country?
Use racing flats. They come in spikes, but if you are running on pavement, get flats. My favorite is the Women%26#039;s Saucony Grid Kilkenny XC2-Flat.
Here is a picture of it. http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/prod...

My best friend she runs cross country she said she loves the women nike free 7.0 running shoe. She said it feels like she doesnt have anything on and it protects her feet on ruff grounds.
Reply:racing flats are the way to go, no nike frees or spikes. you%26#039;ll tear up your feet. go to a specialty running store, they%26#039;ll know how to help. expect them to cost about $45-60.
Reply:yes
there called track spikes
you can get them at sporting goods store
like dikes
for cross country get distance spikes it doesn%26#039;t matter how they look as long as they are distance or middistance
Reply:yeah. we call them spikes and i think that%26#039;s they%26#039;re formal name too. but they%26#039;re only used for races and sometimes timed trials, because the soles are thinner and running on thin soles for long distances will bruise your feet. but yeah, spikes are really lightweight.. if you ever get the chance, hold a spike in one hand and a distance cross-trainer in the other... you%26#039;ll feel the weight difference!
Reply:if ur talkin about cross country races u%26#039;ll need spikes, cuz u want somthin to grip in...but if ur talkin bout 5k races or road races u want somethin called %26quot;racing flats%26quot;...good place to check that out would be eastbay.com

Tap shoes for special feet?
My friend has Lymphodema in her left foot. She wants to learn to tap dance (She loves Happy Feet). Is there any way to buy a tap shoe for her foot that can adjust to fit her changing size. Her foot swells and changes often. Her other foot is normal so that complicates things.
Tap shoes for special feet?
Go to a dance shop and explain the problem, perhaps they can contact one of the shoe companies(capezio, bloch, danceco, so-danca, etc) for further assistance. It is important for the shoe to fit securely when tapping, not slipping off the heel. Perhaps she will need to buy several sizes to use as the foot changes size? Maybe one of the companies will help you with this special order.
They make tap sneakers, a bit more expensive that your run of the mill tap shoe, but they lace up so there could be some changing of loosening or tighten it up.
How does she handle wearing normal shoes? You can attach taps to any shoe with a leather sole, have it done professionally for the best result. Perhaps she has a special shoe already that taps can be attached to? Just a thought.
Reply:i would talk to a company that makes tap shoes. maybe theyll make a shoe special for her...
if its too different sizes maybe shell have to buy 2 pairs of tap shoes.
Reply:God bless her;The Lord will heal her foot. Thank the Lord. You will see it with your own eyes.
Reply:tell her to make her own.use a slipper and put the tap on it.

Is there special pre point shoes?
OK, I read a question about pre point and someone said something about pre point shoes. Is there such a thing? Can you hyperlink a photo? Thanks!
Is there special pre point shoes?
Pre Pointe Shoes (aka Demi-Pointe shoes) are used to get students use to the feel of pointe shoes. They look like pointe shoes. They have a box, just like pointe shoes, but no shank. NO ONE should ever go on pointe while wearing pre pointe shoes because of the lack of support.
http://www.nydancewear.com/index.cfm?%26amp;np...
Reply:I have heard of dance academies where they take pointe shoes and tear out the shank. Students get used to dancing with the box of the pointe shoe, but they do not go en pointe because of the lack of support. Although I have never seen Capezio%26#039;s pre-pointe shoes in person, it would seem to be the same concept as pulling the shank out yourself. My only question would be concerning how to fit different feet if you only offer one box size?
Reply:I have been a dance teacher for many years and i too have never heard of them. On the other hand there are new inventions every day. I don%26#039;t know how pre point shoes could do anything, if you are not ready then you need to Waite.
There are pre-point classes where you use slippers and work you re way to point shoes, and there are beginner point shoes.
Good luck and don%26#039;t fall for any gimmicks.

Do I need special shoes for indoor rock climbing?
I only have running shoes...will that work? Or do I need something else? I don%26#039;t think the place rents them out to people. I%26#039;m going to be going with some friends...and I think they have more expierence than I do. I don%26#039;t want to look like an idiot. Should I go out and buy a pair or what? How much are they, anyway?
Do I need special shoes for indoor rock climbing?
Obviously climbing shoes would be ideal because they fit very snugly to your feet and have specialized rubber that grips the wall better than sneakers or running shoes. I%26#039;d be very surprised to learn that the indoor climbing gym does not rent shoes. If they don%26#039;t maybe call your buddy first to see if he has an extra pair. Buying a pair would be costly to you, I paid $100 for mine. They usually range between $60 and $150. A climbing tip as well: beginners always try to use their hands too much. All of the best climbers in the world are amazing with their footwork. So when you%26#039;re stuck LOOK DOWN and find some foot holds!! Good luck.
Reply:Usualy you can rent them at the front desk. They might be 5 $ for 1 hour. Make sure you have shoes that are tight or they don%26#039;t fit you. But you%26#039;ll get used to them and only think of climbing. Have fun.
Reply:I just got my first pair recently. i spent 80 bucks. they make a huge difference. if you are going to be climbing a decent amount, i would highly recommend buying them. go to ems and talk to someone. they can point you in the right direction, find the best shoe for you, and find the right size. but yeah, if your going to be climbing alot, there is no substitution for your own shoes, it makes a helluva difference.
Reply:no you dont...i go in my vans checkered shoes...but if you have something with a bit of a grip...thats best.
Reply:theres is an outdoor sandle brand name chaco. It gives very good grip for outdoor activities like rock climbing. I even go canoeing with it ^^ but it doesnt protect me from scratches =(

Do I need special shoes for track?
I%26#039;m a freshman and Spring Track starts next week. It%26#039;s going to be the first time I%26#039;ve done it so I%26#039;m really clueless about what shoes I need...I%26#039;m not very good at all so do I even need to buy the spikes?
Please any info will help, thanks!!
Do I need special shoes for track?
Oh baby, you%26#039;re gonna be sore. My school started track last week, and I%26#039;ve been having trouble walking ever since haha. But it%26#039;s fun, and you%26#039;ll do fine I%26#039;m sure. You don%26#039;t need any special shoes, unless you want to get spikes. They aren%26#039;t required, and I personally don%26#039;t like them, but it could be different for you. You will need just average running shoes from a sports store, something like Dick%26#039;s, etc. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Good luck next week(:
Reply:I you%26#039;re doing distance, a good pair of awesome running sneakers are fine. Spikes are more for sprinters. You can still wear them but if you%26#039;re a distance person, it%26#039;s not really needed.
Reply:i would just wear regular running shoes, and later when you get a chance ask the coach if you should get special track shoes.
Reply:you don%26#039;t need to but track shoes help because of more grip basically, but if you feel your better without them theres no need to get them
Reply:It all depends on which track events you are running and the kind of surface you will be training on. You need to consult the coach before you buy something because no matter what you buy, it could be the wrong thing unless you know all of this in advance.
If you have no athletic shoes at all and need to buy something anyways, then the safest bet would be simply %26quot;running shoes%26quot; without spikes, since you can always use that for running on the widest variety of surfaces.
Reply:As you already know there are track shoes with spikes but the track coach may or may not require you to have them. However, if you want to be the best you can be you need to have track shoes.
Reply:no you need to by running shoes which are like sneakers just the people at the store your looking for running shoes

Reply:yea there are special shoes for track. go to ***** sporting goods or any sport store and they%26#039;ll have them. spikes are definately necessary. they help you grip the track a lot better and make you a more confident runner.
Reply:track spikes are nice and they make it easier to run on the track or at least i think so...nike has some nice ones there what i use

I%26#039;m a freshman too and I%26#039;m in Track.
Well it depends on what kinds of events you are doing.
Sprinting and Long Distance could use spikes.
Look at this site. It will mostly likely answer all your questions.

Reply:I don%26#039;t think you need to get spikes yet, but you definitely need to get running shoes. I also run track and cross country. When I would forget my running shoes and I had converses my feet would hurt. A lot! Gosh, especially if your just beginning you need them even more. If your feet aren%26#039;t used to running and you run with just regular sneakers that can cause pains in your feet after you run. Just get the sneakers. You can buy cheap ones first and as you get better you can buy pricier ones.

Reply:**** Alright, so here%26#039;s the deal. Like many people have said before, it really depends on your race. No matter what though, i would definitely get a pair of spikes. However there are 2 types of spikes out there, here%26#039;s how you%26#039;ll know which one to use. ****
-----------------Sprinting (400-meters and under)-----------------
If you plan on doing events like these make sure you buy spikes that have a plastic plate (almost like a plastic bottom) underneath the shoe.
------Middle Distance/Distance (800-meter and above)-------
If you plan on doing events like these make sure that your spikes have a rubber plate underneath the shoe. There should be no plastic on the shoe.
-----------------EXTRA INFORMATION------------------
Spikes are only for races, do not wear them to practice.
For practice you need a pair of %26quot;trainers%26quot; %26lt;%26lt;%26lt; which are basically just normal running shoes.
I recommend the Air-Pegasus from NIKE.
They are the BEST and well known for their durability.
Reply:Spikes are very important to sprinters as they are lighter than flats. Distance runners should also where spikes; however, many distance runners still run in flats as they are more comfortable. Just make sure that if you get spikes that:
1.that the front two spikes should be near each other for good front toe support (especially important for long distance)
2. tight, but breathable
3. note, most track meets allow only 1/8 pyramid spikes

Does he need special shoes?
My son is almost 2 and his feet point inward when he walks or runs. My husband thinks it%26#039;s because I don%26#039;t always make him wear shoes. He has good balance despite this so I think he will probably outgrow it. But how fast?
Does he need special shoes?
it is called pigeon toe when the feet point inward and depending on the severity he might need braces in his shoes to correct this...this can cause hip and knee problems when he is older, i would recommend consulting with your doctor first. my youngest son has braces and they aren%26#039;t like they used to be back in the old days...they are made of pliable plastic that fits around his feet and ankles and goes into his shoes and they aren%26#039;t cheap!
Reply:Generally for a boy at age 2 he should have stabilised when walk or run. Try letting him wear shoes and see if there%26#039;s any changes.
Reply:I currently see a physical therapist for a foot issue that has affected my knees. There are so many patients there that have to go through PT or worse, have surgery, due to foot issues that originally developed in early childhood. My Orthopedic doctor (she specializes in sports medicine and pediatric orthopedics) is going to check my daughter for any issues she may be developing. Apparently there are things that they can do while the child%26#039;s foot is still developing that can permanently correct the problem, resulting in orthotics and braces later in life not being necessary. I am very fortunate to have really good health insurance, but I know it can be very expensive. But knowing that you can possibly correct a problem permanently is totally worth it. I had to get my daughters pediatrician to put in a referral for me. And by the way...no shoes is best!!
Reply:I would consult a podiatrist if you are worried, however that being said I will tell you what mine has said to me. Do not put shoes on your children. When we put developing feet into a shoe we are forming the foot to the shoe. On occasion you have problems, so then you see a specialist and they give you the options. Tell your husband that it will be OK and you will ask the doctor and then ask for a referral if need be. But I recommend keeping those shoes off, unless you are outside. (less dirt in the house that way...not wearing shoes in the home takes away 90% of dirt from your home.) Good luck
Reply:My sons feet done the same and it worried me too. In time they corrected themselves. If you are really concerned go to your Gp and get him checked over. I think that this is a fairly common thing that will correct itself soon.
Reply:Sometimes it may correct itsself, ask your pediatrition about it. I was pigion toed as a child and I still am, when I think about it and concentrate I can walk normal. It doesnt hurt, but I did take a lot of razzing about it when I was in school. I did wear corrective shoes, they didnt help. My mother was told it was due to the fact that I sit on my feet, (but that was 25 years ago) the medical profession always changes their oppinion, Ive also heard that this condition is more common in girls then boys, (something to do with the hips) see your doctor and see if there is any way to correct it, I may save him some hard times at school, even if its not hurting him.
Reply:Shoes have nothing to do with your sons feet. There was a time when humans only wore shoes in the winter and everyone was not pigeon toed. Moniter is developement and if there is still a concern talk to your doctor about it. Only a professional can determine if this is something that needs to be changed. If he runs and plays with other children, I wouldn%26#039;t be concerned at this point in time.

Do running spikes require special shoes?
for cross country...if not how do you put spikes in normal shoes? ive seen some people with normal shoes and spikes
Do running spikes require special shoes?
They make cross country spikes and cross country shoes without spikes.
You do not put spikes in normal shoes. They are not like regular track spikes.
Do not run cross country in track spikes.
Reply:are you really this stupid? dude they make them like that! just go to a running outdoor store and buy some!
Reply:yes i seen that too but i forgot whats its call but i say to buy running shoes made for running. they are more comforbale then your normal flat shoes and alos weight less. so go with runing shoes instead of your normal shoes, but only use then in meets
Reply:Unless things have changed big time since I ran in high school, cross country shoes do not have spikes. Spikes require shoes that have places in the bottom where you screw the spikes in and are used for track and field. That type of shoe is not suitable for running cross country type races as they have very little support and are designed for fast acceleration over relatively short distances on a dirt or all-weather track.
Reply:XC spikes have the cushioning and support of running shoes with the added traction of spikes, metal or rubber. They help a lot in races run primarily on grass and dirt or that go up a lot of hills.

Special bike shoes?
do they make special bike shoes i ride my bike alot im a 13 year old boy and i wear a size 6 mens do they make them that size
Special bike shoes?
The special shoes they make are for accepting cleats. the particular pedals accepts a special cleat. There are a few different styles of pedals and dozens of styles of shoes. I would recommend SPD style pedals for you with some MTB style shoes. Here is a good place to see many styles. http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/pedals.ht...
Most professional bike shops have a good pedal selection too.
This is but one popular style shoe and pedal.
http://bike.shimano.com/catalog/cycle/pr...
Reply:If you aren%26#039;t interested in clipless pedals yet, there are athletic shoes made with a few special features for cycling. I bought a par several years ago. For the most part these special features are just a fairly stiff sole and perhaps a tread pattern that might make it easier to flip a toe-clip and strap platform pedal over so you can stick your foot into it. Other %26quot;special features%26quot; are just a lot of reflective material for riding at night.
The bottom line is that if you are not going to go clipless, I would just get a pair of regular athletic shoes with stiff soles. The New Balance 800 series works well for me in that situation, but YMMV
Reply:yes clipless

Do I need to buy my "flat footed" baby special shoes?
My mother in law said my son is %26quot;flat footed and I should take him to the doctor for special shoes to make his feet have an arch. Should I?
Do I need to buy my %26quot;flat footed%26quot; baby special shoes?
Definitely ask your pediatrician about any concerns you have for your child.
However, all babies are born with flat feet. Check out this link that explains:
http://familydoctor.org/106.xml
Reply:Bring it up at the next visit to the pediatricians office. They may refer you to a podiatrist so they can look at his feet. My daughter has an arch, but she walks flat footed. They told me just to purchase sturdy shoes...no shoes that don%26#039;t offer ankle support. They said it would be ridiculous to try to correct it at this age unless she was having problems walking.
Reply:Talk to you doctor about this.
Reply:When my daughter started walking her babysitter said the same thing to me. Her foot isn%26#039;t completely flat, but she does not have much of an arch, just like her dad. Anyway, I asked the doctor and he said just try to look for regular shoes that have good arch support and there was no reason to buy special shoes at that age. Talk with your doctor and see what they say. Chances are mother in law is being a little over protective.
Reply:yes, i was the same way when i was born and you will need to do that to prevent a lot of problems with his feet in the future and the way he will wear his shoes. but it will be more beneficial ince he is walking so the support can be molded from the pressure he%26#039;s putting on his feet.
Reply:Your mother in law could also be totally wrong...just mention it at the pediatricians during the next visit and buy fitted shoes at Striderite.
Reply:How old is your baby? All babies have flat feet. The arch does form until the 2-3rd year of life. Your doc will confirm this.
Reply:I doubt it. Has the Dr noticed? How old is the baby? When my daughter was at her 1 yr checkup the Dr had her walk across the room and noticed how she was walking-then looked at her feet and said she had valgus feet which means the bone is turned a little (it can be worse) and she walks on the inside of her feet. The Dr said she needs a really good shoe like stride rites. My chiropractor said the same but went on to say everyone should wear a good shoe with good support.
Ask the Dr about it but she probably just needs a shoe w/good support.
Reply:How old is your baby? Most babies are flat footed because they have have extra fat that fills out the arch in their foot. Just make sure that if he is walking or getting ready to walk, to get him good supportive shoes (that goes for all babies, not just flatfooted ones). Take him to Stride Rite if you have one in your area. They are great. They will find the perfect shoe for your little guys feet. Good luck!

I need to buy a special pair of running shoes with inserts for overpronators - where can I find a specialist?
I need the special shoes because I%26#039;ve increased my mileage and am now having intense knee pain . .
I need to buy a special pair of running shoes with inserts for overpronators - where can I find a specialist?
Try Foot Solutions. They are a national chain with a great system where they measure your foot for orthotic inserts that fit perfectly. Also, they sell really great footwear for exercise that feel, well, dreamy!
Reply:It is best to have a shoe made for you. This is usually done in a foot clinic that is located in a hospital. In Toronto, there is a clinic at both Sunnydale and Wellesley hospitals. There will be a doctor in the hospital who will examine your foot thoroughly. He will write out his suggestions for the foot clinic. This may involve special shoes, orthotics, or both. Often, the cost is covered by insurance.
Reply:You need a specialty running store. Look online for one in your area. Just because you are an overpronator doesn%26#039;t necessarily mean you need inserts. And don%26#039;t listen to people when they tell you what kind of shoes to get. Just because a shoe works for one person, doesn%26#039;t mean it will work for you. A professional needs to analyze you gate and fit you in a proper shoe.
Reply:I am an overpronating runner as well. An excellent running shoe brand and model for overpronators is the BROOKS BEAST line.
Reply:Check this website - they have a tool to recommend shoes based on your running style, mileage, and weight. They also sell inserts.
Shoe stores that specialize in running shoes, like Fleet Feet, have people trained to help you find shoes that fit.
