Are there special lightweight running shoes that people wear when running in Cross Country?

Use racing flats. They come in spikes, but if you are running on pavement, get flats. My favorite is the Women%26#039;s Saucony Grid Kilkenny XC2-Flat.

Here is a picture of it. http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/prod...

My best friend she runs cross country she said she loves the women nike free 7.0 running shoe. She said it feels like she doesnt have anything on and it protects her feet on ruff grounds.
Reply:racing flats are the way to go, no nike frees or spikes. you%26#039;ll tear up your feet. go to a specialty running store, they%26#039;ll know how to help. expect them to cost about $45-60.
Reply:yes

there called track spikes

you can get them at sporting goods store

like dikes

for cross country get distance spikes it doesn%26#039;t matter how they look as long as they are distance or middistance
Reply:yeah. we call them spikes and i think that%26#039;s they%26#039;re formal name too. but they%26#039;re only used for races and sometimes timed trials, because the soles are thinner and running on thin soles for long distances will bruise your feet. but yeah, spikes are really lightweight.. if you ever get the chance, hold a spike in one hand and a distance cross-trainer in the other... you%26#039;ll feel the weight difference!
Reply:if ur talkin about cross country races u%26#039;ll need spikes, cuz u want somthin to grip in...but if ur talkin bout 5k races or road races u want somethin called %26quot;racing flats%26quot;...good place to check that out would be eastbay.com
