Do you need volleyball shoes to be on a high school team or will running sneakers work fine?

I dont wanna have to go out and buy the special volleyball shoes before i know if im even on the team, so will running sneakers work fine for volleyball camp and tryouts?

Do you need volleyball shoes to be on a high school team or will running sneakers work fine?
Running sneakers WILL NOT give you enough side to side support. So the sides of your feet may been in a lot of pain.. But it will stilll support your arches... A court shoe would be better, they are cheaper than volleyball shoes... Like what tennis playes would wear.
Reply:If you are not sure whether you would be drafted, you don't need to buy volleyball shoes for now, as any running shoes/sneakers should help you "survive" the camp.

If your high school team is very competitive and stays in top four of any tournament it participated, you will need volleyball shoes for sure to be on the team. You might have to show that you are an experienced player to get drafted.

Even if you are not drafted to the high school team, you will have to make a decision whether you want to play for a club team or you want to go with a different sport.
Reply:ya for tryouts and camps running shoes just regular athletic shoes are okay, but when you make the team you should think about buying a pair of volleyball shoes....here are the ones i reccomend...they are mizuno volleyball shoes and come in all different colors and sizes, are only about $60, really comfortable, and last for a really long time......Heres the link if you want to take a look...............

*cheer team mates on

*dive to get balls

*stay possitive

*dont have a down face

*and lastly try to stay consistint=]

im only in 6th grade but play club and just finshed my season off today!!!
Reply:If you feel fine in them, go ahead.

The major thing volleyball shoes will do is increase your grip on the floor. So if you find yourself slipping a lot, you may want to look into a special pair of shoes.

If you do choose to upgrade, look for running shoes, specifically Asics, or volleyball shoes from Mizuno
Reply:Cross training shoes will work but they can slip on the court. VB shoes with a poly sole will grab better and increase your movement quality. That is help you with side to side moves, quick forwards and backs without slipping. Good luck and if you make team then get the shoes...
Reply:most highschool teams will have a team shoe. so that all the players are matching.

but volleball shoes are a lot easier than regular running shoes. because they are coart shoes, ment for a coart.
Reply:For camp and tryouts, yes. As far as specific volleyball shoes go, just buy a pair of good tennis Shoes that you wear only indoors and that should work as volleyball shoes.
Reply:running shoes will work.

but court shoes have better grip and better support.

its not required to have court shoes, but i know that i need them.
Reply:Ya, definitely works perfectly fine,

anything lightweight.
Reply:all you need are sneakers but the team might get everyone that makes it matching shoes for the games
Reply:yes they will work fine! Good luck on making the team! oh and my team all has matching shoes :)
Reply:ya all you need are shoes that you can run in and athletic stuff like that and they might even work if your on the team
Reply:yah they will just make sure they have friction so you dont fall!
