I am supposed to wear dress pants and dress shoes for my high school graduation. Are these same as normal black pants and black shoes or are they something special?

normally when the attire calls for "dress" its usually something that you at least have to dry clean.
for a graduation, they probably just want you to NOT show up wearing jeans. a nice pair of khakis and shoes with a clean long sleeve shirt and tie should do fine.
your black pants and shoes will work too.

Reply:Dress pants usually has a high quality, expensive looking fabric... that you can't throw in the washing machine. To buy one... go in the suit section.
And dress shoes are normal looking high heels.
