My husband spends his entire shift and any over time, walking on concrete and asphalt (he works in a fuel yard). His shins, feet, ankles and heels are so sore it leaves him gimpy/lame. Are there any special 'kind' of shoe/boot (like for instance 'nurses' shoes) or particular brand (Nike, Converse, Wolverine) that would help allievate his pain during his shift? I realize that padding will help but is one brand better than another? Anyone experience this? I'm not looking for them as a gift for him but as a tool to help ease his pain. I would appreciate your input, please.

The pain that he is getting is coming from tired muscles having to work too hard. You don't want too much cushion because it may come at the cost of support, which forces the muscles in the foot and lower leg to work even more over a long period of time and can make things worse. Consider getting him a custom pair of orthotics to properly support is feet and allow his muscles and joints to work with maximum efficiency. This can be done by your choriporactor, physiotherapist, podeatrist etc. Then throw those into a nice pair of soft bottom shoes. If he is required to wear safety boots, the options are pretty limited. If not, good brands overall are "New Balance" "Saucony" "Etonic" but they are more expensive. When testing a shoe, put it through the twist and bend tests. Twist the shoe. If it twists easily or through the center of the shoe, it's no good. Bend the shoe, a good shoe should bend about 1/3 from the toe end- NOT in the center. Hope this helps.
