Or are there special types of shoes specifically made for taking hign altitude impacts? I know it'll hurt either way, but cushioning would help right? If not, what's the best way to take a high fall?
What's The Best Way To Cushion Shoes/Boots For A Fall?
Corcoran Jump boots. Designed for
pro's who jump for a living.
Learn how to skydive. Seriously, they'll teach
you how to minimize the shock of
landing.
Do not lock your knees, keep them bent.
Your legs are fairly good shock absorbers.
Please don't do anything stupid to hurt yourself.
Reply:from my experiences there is no way to cushoin a high fall. what i do is when i fall i usuall bend my knees and that kinda cushions the fall. but ur knees feel it after
Reply:The best way to take a high fall is to not even get in a situation where you will have to take a high fall.
I saw a movie once, where the hero (Yuen Biao) did a high fall (a jump, really) -- without wires -- off a 4-story building (it was the highest un-aided high-fall jump, up to that time). Sure, he was trained in Martial Arts, he knew what he was doing and knew how to take the fall, and there was "padding" on the ground -- and he nearly broke both legs and his back when he hit the ground, feet-first (the script called for a feet-first landing...). The movie is "Shanghai Express", from Dragon Dynasty, 2007 (original title: "Millionaires' Express", Hong Kong, 1986)

If you are not trained, and do not know exactly what you are doing -- don't even think of doing it, no matter what kind of padding you might have in your shoes.
Reply:i'd say don't do it, is your life really that bad?
